Women’s Spirituality Then and Now: a gift and resource for these times

Women’s spirituality seeks to heal the splitting apart of mind, body and spirit which is at the core of patriarchy. This healing process is anchored in one’s personal life story. Consciously reflecting on one’s story provides opportunities for healing, wisdom, and empowerment and builds bridges of compassion toward others.

CELEBRATING OUR FUTURE

Many things go into planning and sustaining a religious community. Today we welcome our newest members, lift up our resilience as a congregation and our joy in what the future promises. And we’ll approve the 2021 church budget at our January Congregational Meeting.

WAVE FEMINISM

What is your feminist history? No matter your generation – boomer, Gen X, Millennial, Gen Z – each has a story to tell. It’s surprising how much progress we have made in women’s rights – and how much more we have to go. Katie is a UU community minister with the Eastrose Fellowship in Gresham, OR.

RETURNING TO NATURE

Mary Ann Perry, sexton of The Forest will share the story of this “green” cemetery and natural burial with us. And Barbara Moore will tell of her mother’s desire for such an option and her joy of finding it in our southern Oregon neighborhood.

Dearly Departed

So very many notable people died in 2020 in addition to the multitude slain by the pandemic. We’ll highlight four individuals amid a revolving slideshow of very many more, as we pay tender tribute and gratitude for the gifts they gave us.

Star Lit and Ever Green

Today is the third of “the twelve days of Christmas” and a fine opportunity to pursue the history of this fabled season and sing our way through the legacy of its carols. “We love this service” – Margaret and Fred

Beyond Valuing Diversity

If our stated values include diversity and inclusion, why do our communities remain so racially homogeneous? Come join us as we consider moving beyond being “welcome” and into the harder work of racial literacy, taking responsibility for inequities, and committing ourselves to intervene in the racism of our community.

Justice For All

Join us this first Sunday of December for a TouchStone-inspired service to explore our second UU principle: justice, equity and compassion in human relations. Through an array of readings presented with the help of several members of our congregation, we will consider together what these deep values can mean for people who share different identities.
