That’s Not What He Said: Exploring What Really Mattered to Jesus

Intern Minister Alison Duren-Sutherland draws from the New Testament and its historical context to identify the things that were important to Jesus as portrayed in the Gospels – and the things that weren’t. We’ll see that, unlike some of his contemporaries, Jesus had more to say about poverty and inclusion than about same-sex relationships and abortion.

Loved Into Being

Faith in Unitarian Universalism isn’t just an intellectual exercise: it’s “heart” work. This worship experience from the UUA features a sermon by our President Rev. Susan Frederick-Gray, plus vibrant music, storytelling, and more, to help us to grow in spirit, in courage, and in generosity. We join Intern Minister Alison and our sibling congregation in Klamath Falls in this service that will be shared in UU congregations across the country.

Practicing Resurrection

Suppose it’s real; suppose it’s true. Suppose it is possible. Maybe we’ll encounter something whole and holy together this morning.

The Solution to White Supremacy is Connection

Kokayi Nosakhere will share a message of connection over conflict. The power of sending a love letter to someone known or not, might change the world. We met our pulpit guest during Alison’s service in January. Growing up in Anchorage, Alaska, in one of the most ethnically diverse neighborhoods in in the United States, led him into a life of spirited social activism. We welcome him back for a service of his own.

From Bud into Flower: Honoring the Vernal Equinox

On the Vernal Equinox, day and night are of equal length, with a promise of new growth and longer days to come. Intern Minister Alison Duren-Sutherland  invites us to imagine the growth we would like to see in the months ahead. Bring an item that speaks to you of new growth, and an intention for what you want to see growing in your life, our community, and the wider world. We will share our items and intentions as we co-create a virtual altar to celebrate the arrival of Spring.

Families Encircled in Care

2020 was an unprecedented year in our world and critically so in Southern Oregon with wildfires adding to the pandemic crisis. More than 600 students in Jackson County lost their homes. Hear from Director Mary Ferrell on how Maslow Project, a local nonprofit, is responding to these unique challenges to support homeless children and families in Southern Oregon.

Broken Open

As we reach the anniversary of the first pandemic emergency orders here in Oregon, we honor the heartbreaking grief, loss, trauma and injustice our communities have seen over the past year—and to consider where we will go from here, and how our living faith will guide us. Rev. Abigail Clauhs is an ordained UU minister and board-certified chaplain, serving in palliative care, as well as social justice work in the Portland Interfaith Clergy Resistance.

Tenacious Community: Strong Roots and Wings

Throughout the years, our Southern Oregon UU Communities have survived losses and built and rebuilt a UU presence in this place. Today we celebrate the connections we are building and seek how to grow stronger together. Join Rev. Sean of the Rogue Valley UU Fellowship for this pre-recorded service shared via YouTube to watch at your convenience, and then join intern minister Alison and folks from all three sibling congregations live at 11:30am via Zoom for a beloved community Coffee Hour.

Wider Still: Beloved Community Beyond Southern Oregon

This morning we host our Southern Oregon sibling congregation for our live Zoom service at 10:30am. Woven into our service hour will be words and music from Side with Love, the UU affiliated public advocacy campaign that “seeks to harvest love’s power to stop oppression.” Beloved UU community exists in our congregations, across our region, and, as Side with Love reminds us, throughout the nation.

Interconnecting our Webs: Valentines to the Beloved Community

This morning we join the UU Fellowship of Klamath County (UUFKC) live on Zoom at 10:30am to celebrate the Love that is at the heart of our faith and our communities. Members and friends of our Southern Oregon UU Partnership congregations in Ashland, Grants Pass and Klamath Falls share love letters to our beloved communities, and Intern Minister Alison Duren-Sutherland invites us to rest in that love.
